GET OUT AND BASK IN THE MINNESOTA SUN

It’s no surprise with Minnesota’s unpredictable elements, we love our days out in the sun. We tend to lock ourselves inside for most of the winter and at the first sign of nice weather we’re busy with yard work, vacations, fishing, boating, swimming and anything else we can do outside. We’re always on the lookout for exciting activities which allow us to enjoy as much summer as possible. To that end, in today’s blog we’ve collected a few things you and your family can do outdoors this summer.

One very popular activity for summer fun is back again this year. It’s the Tall Ships Duluth 2016. Join Tall Ships Duluth on the shores of the world’s Greatest Lake. This is a rare chance to catch a glimpse, step aboard, and even set sail on some of the grandest ships of yore. Duluth will be one of only a handful of Great Lakes ports that will host the prestigious Tall Ships Challenge and is the only destination on Lake Superior. Tall Ships Duluth 2016 promises to be the largest event in our region’s history featuring ship tours, day sails, educational programming, food and beverage, entertainment and fun for the entire family! You will also be able to see the 150+ high quality art vendors that you’re used to seeing at Art in Bayfront Park; offering an opportunity to purchase gallery quality art work.

It’s always fun to see the Twins play at Target Field with all of the exciting commotion that goes along with a Twins Game? SMASH, and the ball sails through the air, the crowd roars and you take in the sounds, the atmosphere and energy of being outdoors. Click to view the Twins Schedule. Visit minnesota.twins.mlb.com to see the announcement about theme nights for the 2016 regular season at Target Field. Friday night home games feature an impressive post-game fireworks show. Check the schedule for details and don’t forget to bring your sunscreen!

Make sure to tie up your summer with the great Minnesota get together! We all know what the State Fair entails, but www.mnstatefair.org covers background information you may not know.  The Minnesota State Fair began in 1854 as a territorial fair to highlight agriculture and encourage farming in the region became the Minnesota State Fair in 1859, a year after Minnesota was granted statehood. Today, the annual Minnesota State Fair is one of the most popular tourist destinations in the region. The fair attracts nearly 1.8 million guests annually. The 2016 Minnesota State Fair runs Aug. 25 - Sept. 5. The fair employs nearly 80 year-round full-time staff members. During the summer, about 400 seasonal staff are added. Close to 2,700 people are hired as fair-time staff members.

Whatever events you choose to fill your beautiful Minnesota Summer, we hope you have a safe and happy summer while you enjoy everything a Minnesota summer has to offer.
