CANVAS CARE AND CLEANING

We put a lot of work into our awnings, boat covers and tarps. You hardly have to do a thing. If you take care of your canvas, it’ll take care of you for years to come. Maintenance is easy, too. In fact, smaller Sunbrella fabrics can even be cleaned in your washing machine.

When cleaning most fabrics, it is important to observe the following:

  • Always use a mild soap such as Ivory Snow, Dreft or Woolite.

  • Water should be cold to lukewarm. (Never more than 100°F/38°C.)

  • Rinse thoroughly to remove all soap residue.

  • Air dry only. Never apply heat to Sunbrella fabrics.

  • Storing your boat wet or with water in the hull will result in mold/mildew damage to your fabric and upholstery

  • Never allow moisture to be trapped inside your boat or item that is covered. Always "dry-out" your boat or fabric product before storage

General or light cleaning.

To clean fabric while still on a frame or covering your boat, follow these simple steps:

  1. Brush off loose dirt.

  2. Rinse with a hose.

  3. Prepare a cleaning solution of water and mild soap such as Ivory Snow, Dreft or Woolite (no detergents).

  4. Scrub lightly with a soft bristle brush.

  5. Allow cleaning solution to soak into the fabric.

  6. Rinse thoroughly until all soap residue is removed.

  7. Air dry.

  8. If stubborn stains persist, you can use a diluted chlorine bleach/soap mixture for spot cleaning of mildew, roof run-off or other similar stains.

  • Iosso Water Repellent Spray

  • Seam Sealer

  • Aqua-Tite
