CUSTOM TIE DOWN BOAT COVERS

Tie down boat covers represent the traditional style of custom boat cover, and in some cases are still the best option for your marine protection needs. If your main goal is to cover your boat for storage, and not consistently cover and uncover it for on-the-water use, a tie down cover style is a great option to consider. WHAT TO KNOW ABOUT TIE DOWN BOAT COVERS

When Is A Tie Down Cover The Right Choice

Compared to snap on covers, tie down covers are a bit more tedious to install and uninstall. Thus, most clients choose this type of cover when they aren’t consistently covering and uncovering their boats. Tie down covers are great for Winter storage or for boats that are tailored or stored periodically, not frequently.

What To Expect A Custom Tie Down Cover To Cost

At Canvas Craft, our boat cover prices are based on the size of cover, fabric being used, and any customizations (i.e. notches for trolling motor, gas cap, etc.) required. At a high level, you should plan on your quality, custom boat cover ranging between $600-$1,200. But know that certain boats hold higher cover costs.

How To Properly Secure Your Tie Down Cover

When it comes to tie down covers, it’s all about the installation. While the process isn’t overly difficult, improper installation and fastening can lead to scuffing of the paint and graphics on your boat. Thus, we recommend that if you choose this type of cover, you’re prepared to take the extra time needed to fasten the cover appropriately.

How To Pick The Best Cover Color Option

When picking a fabric color for your tie down boat cover, consider choosing a more neutral color option. While the red, blue and green options definitely have some flair to them, they are also more prone to natural sun fading, leaving your cover looking a little outdated; even though the integrity of the boat cover is still in tact.

Is A Tie Down Cover The Same As A Ratchet Cover

While there are similarities to tie down covers and ratchet covers, they are very different options. Ratchet covers only work on fiberglass boats, and represent a single ratchet being sewn into the hem of the fabric. This allows for universal tightening around the entire boat, allowing for simple installation.
